On 1 November 1956, a group of young mothers in the Eastgate neighborhood in Columbus, Ohio came together to organize the CARROUSELS (later to be known as the Carrousels of Columbus). Two co-founders, Carrousel Glenna Watson and the late Carrousel Betty Brewer hand delivered invitations to their friends in the neighborhood and with their acceptance, the social club was formed. The club
chose the “Carousel;” but spelled it CARROUSELS to make it unique. They wanted the purpose of the Carrousels to be meet just for FUN and cultivate friendships among themselves. Therefore, we proclaim “we meet just for Fun, no work to be done have we”! Today, the Carrousels is twenty-five chapters strong across the contiguous United States!!!
As the 31st elected National President of the Carrousels Incorporated, I would like ALL members of our beloved club to celebrate their membership and friendships as only Carrousels know how. To continue to guide the organization is a dynamic National Executive Board composed of elected and appointed Carrousels from different chapters. They are:
National Vice President
National Parliamentarian
National Treasurer
National Financial Secretary
National Recording Secretary
National Historian
National Corresponding Secretary
We are excited to continue the path of previous national officers in leading Carrousels Incorporated as the thriving and wonderful social club it has always been. For the next biennial we will remember “we meet for FUN-we are ONE-we are CARROUSELS.”
