Margo Charles

The Carrousels of Houston are saddened by the demise of Emeritus member Carrousel
Margot Charles. She became a member in 1999. As a Carrousel, she hosted chapter
meetings with wonderful themes, served as chapter president and always exuded
charm and warmth when with Carrousels.

Carrousel Margot Ann Charles was a native New Yorker born and attending public
schools in Queens, New York. While attending Central Commercial High School,
Margot had her first job at the age of fifteen working as a professional legal secretary for
a New York law firm. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of
Houston, Downtown Campus, Houston, Texas.

In 1974, Carrousel Margot Ann Charles and her late husband, Carrafella Clarence,
moved from Jamaica, New York to Houston, Texas as employees of ARAMCO. Over
the next thirty-five years, Margot worked in different capacities with the company until
her retirement.

Carrousel Margot Ann Charles was very involved in volunteering in her community. She
was a charter member of the Ensemble Theatre Guild, a member of the Houston
Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and sat on the boards of many
nonprofit organizations in Houston.

She was the heart of her family, a source of endless love, wisdom and strength. Her
warmth brightened the lives of everyone she touched, and her memory will remain a
guiding light for us all. Margot’s loving spirit will be cherished by us forever.

Deborah “Binky” Seay

Deborah “Binky” Seay

Oh, I want to see Him, look upon His face,

There to sing forever of His saving grace;

On the streets of Glory let me lift my voice;

Cares all past, home at last, ever to rejoice.

To know Carrousel Binky is to have an appreciation for a well-told story. Nobody could weave a
tale like Binky. She was a gem—walking, living history—an encyclopedic fount of Africa-
ancestored narratives. And if you were blessed to be in her presence while she was chronicling
an account, all you could do was lean in and attentively listen. Last night, November 29 th , at 89,
Binky's personal journey and story ended.

While our hearts are broken, we hold on to the knowledge that she meant so much to so
many—her friends, her family, her church, and her beloved Carrousels. In Carrousels, Binky was
a confidant, a mother, an auntie, and the Philadelphia chapter's organizer, later serving as The
Carrousels, Inc. national president. On a trip with her husband to Washington, DC, Binky met
several Carrousels who encouraged her to begin a chapter. That she did, and never looked back.
We owe much to her leadership, guidance, and incredible sense of humor.

In 2023, she watched as her granddaughter, Alexandra “Allie” Seay, was inducted into the
chapter and is now continuing her legacy. Binky leaves behind two daughters, Stephanie and
Angelique, and a son, Geoffrey. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry, and son Andre.
Funeral or memorial service arrangements have yet to be planned. But I will keep you posted.
In the meantime, Carrousel cards, well wishes, and condolences can be sent to Carrousel Allie
and Binky’s daughter, Stephanie. Please pray for her family and our Carrousel community,
because we all loved Binky beyond measure.

It is with a heavy heart that the Carrousels of San Diego share the news of the recent passing of Dr. George Dwight Malone (Carrafella of San Diego Carrousel Pat Malone). English poet John Donne wrote, every person’s death diminishes who we are. But Dr. Malone’s passing takes our breath away. His service to San Diego made us believe achievement was possible, and hard work is transformational. He was a man for all seasons and the embodiment of a gentleman to service his community as a family practitioner practicing in San Diego, CA. Our sincere and deepest condolences to the Malone family. We ask that you keep Carrousel Pat and her family in your prayers at this difficult time.
